What is Emotional intelligence?
Emotional intellegence reffers to someones ability to control their emotions. Someone can acheive a greater emotional intellegence by practising mindfulness, spending time gaining self-knowledge, and creating useful mental habits.
Steps to acheive a greater emotional intelligence
Mindfulness could be following videos/audios, to sitting in silence, along with fitting this tradition in with your daily routine.
Self-Knowledge and Self mastery involves being more self aware of your thoughts and actions. Knowledge is power in this sense as you can use it to your advantage. For example; "Oh, I know how I am when I get sad. I know the intensity of it and how to regulate it."
Creating useful mental habits is an important aspect of emotional intelegence. You can acheive useful mental habits by creating habbits to defend against your critical judgy voice in your head. For example, developing the habbit of counter arguing “I can’t do this” etc..
How is EQ different to IQ?
IQ (Intelligence Quotient) relates to a persons cognitive abilities, while EQ (Emotional Quotient) as you might guess, relates to someones ability to control, recognise and understand their own emotions.
